Unfortunately not.
Our business model is all inclusive multi-day experiences. We plan ahead all the logistics for the number of swimmers who hired the full package ahead of time. Therefore we cannot accept walk-ins.
We close our trips 2 months in advance in order to guarantee spots, accommodations and all services for our guests without compromising our standards.
We're not a day trip company, we're an all inclusive multi day swimming vacations company. Unfortunately the logistics involved requiere enough lead time for planning and hiring. Therefore we cannot improvise spontaneous experiences.
If you have at least 8 people in your group, talk to us with enough anticipation and we can try to work out a shorter all inclusive multi day experience.
No, we need all our group staying together in our host hotels so we can guarantee the attention standards and so our logistics for food and transportation can run flawless.
As an all inclusive multi day swimming vacations company we already have special arrangements with our host hotels with priority spaces reserved.
The best way is to fly into Chetumal International Airport which is just a 40 min. drive away from Bacalar.
There are 3 daily flights from Mexico City's main airport, and 2 additional ones from the secondary airport.
We recommend the 2 mid morning flights as those would get you to Bacalar in time for checking in at the hotel and still have time for a maiden swim or a walk through town.
We offer airport transfers for those 2 recommended mid morning flights from Mexico City's main airport.

Cancun is 5 hours away by bus or train.
Tulum is 2.5 hours away by bus or train.
You could also rent a car on either location and drive down, although you wouldn't be using the car much during your stay in Bacalar.
Unless your plans have you staying in Tulum or Cancun for a few days, flying into Chetumal from Mexico City is still the best option.
The Train is now operational from Chetumal Airport, as well as from the cities of Cancun, Merida and Tulum. Schedules are very limited and might not coincide well with your arrival time, check listings to see if they're compatible with your plans.
Tickets can only be purchased one week ahead of your travel date and seldom sell out.

Once we receive it, we'll send you a secure PayPal link for your deposit or full payment, based on your timeline. As soon as payment is confirmed, we'll send you official confirmation of your booking.

We leave the hotel around 9:30AM and head to our first swim spot, and in the water around 10AM.
Snack and leisure time at 11:30AM and then we head to our second swim location to be in the water around 1PM.
Sit down meal around 2:30PM, then back to the hotel.
Afternoon leisure time into town.
Optional dinner reservation at 8PM.
All the group stays in the same hotel.
For open group experiences we work with a couple of boutique hotels that offer the best balance between cost, amenities and functionality.
If you have a special group trip of 8 or more people, you can choose where to stay from our choices ranging from budget oriented 3 star accommodations all the way to luxury 5 star hotels.

If you like swimming, then you qualify!
This is not a competition. It's recreational swimming at it's best.
If you're capable of swimming 2km in around an hour, then this trip is for you.
You can swim at your own pace. As fast as you want, or you can pause to catch your breath or just to enjoy the view.
And you can stop at any time if you prefer.
We have pontoon boat, kayak and/or swimming escorts for every swim, and our trained escorts will wait for the slower ones and catch up with the faster ones.
We have watering stops along the way where we regroup.
It's all about enjoying swimming in an amazing place.
If you're looking for a safe and worry free swimming experience. This is it!
Water is warm, ranging from 26°C up to 30° C (79°F-86°F).
Bacalar Lagoon is fresh and clean water, so there is no harmful salt effect on the skin.
There is no current except for a mild current assist going through the rapids.
Wind is usually moderate so water is calm with very little if any waves.
Bacalar is located far enough south of the usual hurricane path that affects the Atlantic, Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, still the weather might be slightly affected by such conditions.
There is a rainy season, but rain showers are short and rarely affects swimming conditions. Still we try to adjust our schedule around the rain.
There is not much marine life other than a few small fish.
Swim buoys are mandatory in Bacalar. We have pontoon boat, kayak and/or swimming escorts for every swim.
Your safety and enjoyment is our prime concern.
Swim buoys are mandatory in Bacalar. If you have one, bring it. If you don't we have them available for you.
For safety reasons we require high visibility swim caps.
If you want to use your own feel free to do so, otherwise we'll provide you a silicone swim cap to choose from a range of high visibility colors.
Bring a reusable water bottle to have on the boat or kayak for our watering stops while swimming.
As sunscreens are prohibited from being used to protect the lagoon, you can bring a rash-guard or warm water light colored lycra body suit to shield you from the sun while swimming. Do not bring neoprene wetsuit or other heat trapping swimwear as the water temperature is already warm enough.
Tinted goggles are recommended, although cloudy conditions do happen from time to time, so bring clear goggles as a backup too.
Bring your fins, pull buoy, hand paddles or any other swim aid you feel comfortable with.
If you have a quick dry towel bring it along, otherwise the hotel provides towels if needed.
A dry-bag and light rain jacket are also recommended to keep you dry on our boat rides.
Reef water shoes are not necessary, bring sandals or flip-flops as well as a good pair of walking sneakers.
AND PLEASE BRING YOUR CAMERA!
If you have a waterproof camera, our guides can take amazing pictures while you swim.
Bacalar lagoon is a very unique and fragile environment.
To protect it, sunscreen use is forbidden in the lagoon as it damages the microorganisms that keep it clean and make this place special.
You could apply some non greasy reef-friendly sunscreen early in the morning and after swimming, but never before jumping in the water.
There is a reef friendly sunscreen for sale at the local supermarket as well as on Amazon called "Maya Solar" that could be used a couple of hours before getting in the water.
If your skin is sensitive bring a rash-guard or a light colored warm weather wetsuit.
Always wear a shirt and a hat upon exiting the water.
We also recommend an oral sun protection pill from Heliocare 360 that you can purchase on specialized dermatological pharmacies, major department stores or online on Amazon. Results may vary.
Bacalar is located south of the usual hurricane path that affects the Atlantic, Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico. Please be aware that weather might still be affected by such conditions on hurricane season.
If you have any special dietary needs or concerns, talk to us ahead of time so we can prepare.
You bet they are!
We swim with current assist, we swim in shallow waters, we swim in cenotes, we swim across the lagoon, we swim over a reef in the sea, we swim surrounded by jungle, we swim in wide open spaces, we swim in deep waters, we swim in narrow passages, we swim into a water spring, we can even swim against the current.
Every swim is designed to be a new and unique experience as a progression specifically tailored to make each day your new favorite.
Most of the days we have 2 swims ranging from 2 to 2.5 km each. So that would add up close to 5 km per day.
On the 4-day experience we have an optional 2 km swim upon arrival that you wouldn't want to miss, so book the mid morning flight!
On the 7-day experience we go one day to the Caribbean sea for a single 3.5 km swim over the reef.
The last day we have just one short 2 km daybreak swim before heading back to the airport.
Our total for the 7-day experience is 28 to 30 km.
For the 4-day experience the total is 17 to 19 km.
If the whole group wants to swim more or less, we can adapt the distances.
Likewise if one swimmer wants different totals than the rest, we have options for him/her.

Under 18, our minimum age requirement is 16 with at least one parent present.
Non-swimmers are welcome to join us kayaking or paddleboarding on all swims.
Or they can wait on the beach club while we swim and watch us approach as we finish every swim.
They can ride the boat when space is available and watch us swim from there.
We can provide alternate activities for them while we swim and meet us when we're done swimming every day.
We're open to find ways to make them happy.
Our rate is the same for non-swimmers as it is for swimmers.

All swim vacation trips have minimum number of 6 participants to run.
If swimmers fail to reach minimum number of participants, the organizer reserves the rights to cancel or postpone the event to a later date.
Contact us to confirm availability on the swimming holiday you have chosen, then complete the Registration Form. After receiving it we will respond within 24 hours with a payment link.
A 25% deposit is required to secure the reservation.
Full payment is accepted at any time and must be paid in full 2 months prior to the holiday commencing.
If you cancel more than 2 months prior to the holiday, a 15% cancellation charge will be applied and the rest of your payment will be refunded.
If you cancel 1 to 2 months prior to the trip date, a 50% charge will be applied and the remaining 50% will be refunded.
If you cancel less than 1 month prior to the trip date, there will be no refund.
As a guest, you are required to have in place travel insurance that covers you for all activities you will be taking part in during your trip. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are fully covered for these activities. Whatever travel policy you decide on, you will need to send, or bring a copy of your current Certificate of Insurance to the safety briefing at the start of your holiday.
